About-Face

After deciding to update my “About” page, I drew a blank on the actual words to describe myself.  I could NOT get ONE word out on the page.  Stalled.  It shouldn’t be that hard, right?  Wrong.  It was like my brain had stage fright.  I wanted my “About” to be honest, but interesting….interesting enough to capture the attention of my readers for one brief second, or two if I’m lucky.

If someone asked me to help them with their “About”, it would be a breeze.  Why is this so hard for me?

I tried to think of this from a different angle.  How would someone else describe me?  I even had a brief moment of morbidity and thought of how my friends and family would honor me at my funeral.  What nice things would they say about me? What value did I provide in their lives?  What things would they whisper under their breath?

I tried a new angle.  If I could improve myself, in what areas would it be?  I’d stay away from mentioning those things.  What am I really good at in this moment of time?  What’s my passion and how do I value life?

Finally- there it is!  I started with my passion.  Isn’t that where the rubber meets the road?  I thought about the things that drive me.  The things that bring a smile to my face and joy to my heart knowing that I gave back to society in a sincere and helpful way…the things that bring a smile to the faces of others.  When you start with the heart, everything else falls into place.  I guess it really is all “About” the “face”.  Smile.  Live with Passion.  Enjoy the road trip!
