Shunned Uniqueness

“Don’t try to put a spin on things…do it the standard way”, they said. “You need to be duplicatable”. So, during those years I complied (for the most part). My skills and talents were looked down on. The theory was that if I did things differently, my team members would feel inferior and not be able to grow a business for themselves.

How do you think this made me feel? How do you think it affected my business growth? Do you think “being the same as everyone else” made me stand out, or just look like everyone else?

Hindsight is 20/20. I’m so glad that I NOW use my talents and skills to grow MY business, just like I want. Your God given talents are NOT meant to be shelved. You were not made to dumb down your uniqueness. If you spent time to develop a skill, then by George, use it! It’s your business anyway, so why are you letting someone else tell you what to do?! Don’t do what I did for years.

  • How are you different?
  • How are you unique?
  • What value can you bring others?
  • How can you stand out?
  • What makes your heart happy?

When you are looking to make a purchase, do you look for a business that is “just like everyone else” or do you look for the businesses with pizzazz? Do you look for a business that is unique, one that stands out?

I will admit, there are parts of a business that is good practice, but putting your thumb down on someone to say “keep it all standard” is just not cool. Honestly, that sounds really boring. Amiright?

I spend a lot of time in personal development. I dig deep to figure out who I am, what I love, and the things I enjoy. I spend time mastering certain skills. Why in the world would I NOT use those in my business?

If you have been shunned for your uniqueness, here’s your free pass. I’m giving you the okay to run your business in a way that is unique to you. It’s okay to be different. It’s okay to stand out. It’s okay to be successful in a way that is uniquely you. Add value to your life and to those you meet, no matter what it looks like to others.

Standard is boring.
